Net Applications - Usage Share Statistics for Internet Technologies.

Net Applicationsから2015年8月のデスクトップOSシェアが発表された。8月はWindowsがシェアを増やし、MacとLinuxがシェアを減らした。特にWindows 10のシェア急上昇が著しく、そのシェアは5.21%に到達しており、すでにWindows 8のシェアを抜いている。

バージョン別に見ると、WindowsはWindows 10とWindows XPがシェアを伸ばし、Windows 7、Windows 8.1、Windows 8、Windows Vistaがシェアを減らしている。Windows 7、Windows 8.1、Windows 8の減少分の合計は5.00ポイントで、Windows 10の増加分が4.82ポイントであることから、Windows 7、Windows 8.1、Windows 8のユーザがWindows 10へ移行したものと推定される。

デスクトップ向けのオペレーティングシステムが1カ月で5ポイントも上下することはかなり希な事態であり、Windows 10のアプローチは普及という点において大きな成功を収めたと言える。なお、これまで緩やかな減少を見せていたWindows XPはこのところ減少が鈍っており、8月に限ってはわずかながらもシェアを増やしている。すでにサポートが終了しているにもかかわらずWindows XPのシェアは12.14%もあり、Windows 7に次いで2位につけている。
