Microsoftは11月20日(米国時間)、「KB5072911: Explorer, the Start menu, and other XAML-dependent apps might not start or close unexpectedly on some enterprise devices - Microsoft Support」において、Windows 11のセキュリティ更新プログラムに不具合が存在すると報じたが、12月2日に内容を更新した。

対象の更新プログラムの影響を受けた環境ではエクスプローラーおよびスタートメニューが予期せずに終了する可能性があるという。

不具合の概要

不具合は7月のセキュリティ更新プログラム「KB5062553」およびこれ以降にリリースされた更新プログラムに存在し、Windows 11バージョン24H2または25H2に影響するという。不具合の影響を受けた場合、エクスプローラー、スタートメニュー、システム設定、タスクバー、Windows SearchなどのXAMLに依存するアプリの起動に失敗するか、予期せずに終了する可能性がある。具体的な症例は次のとおり。

  • 黒い画面にログオンする
  • スタートメニューが開かず、エラーを表示することがある
  • エクスプローラーが起動時にクラッシュする
  • タスクバーが表示されない
  • XAMLに依存するアプリが初期化時にクラッシュする

不具合は主に一部の企業環境または管理対象環境に影響し、個人向けデバイスへの影響は軽微とされる。永続的なOSインストール環境では初回ログオン時にのみ発生し、仮想デスクトップ基盤(VDI: Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)などの非永続的OSインストール環境ではログオンするたびに発生する可能性がある。

原因は更新プログラムのインストール後にXAMLパッケージが時間内に登録されないことにあるという。Microsoftは解決に向けた取り組みを実施中としており、本稿執筆時点までに修正プログラムの提供は確認できていない。

回避策

企業環境および仮想化環境において、IT管理者は次のコマンドを実行することで不具合を回避可能とされる。
