Microsoftは8月29日(米国時間)、「Releasing Windows 11, version 25H2 to the Release Preview Channel｜Windows Insider Blog」において、Windows InsiderプログラムのリリースプレビューチャネルからWindows 11バージョン25H2(ビルド 26200.5074)をリリースしたと発表した。

一部機能の削除を発表

Microsoftは今回の発表において、Windows 11 25H2の新機能を発表していない。詳細は6月のブログ記事を参照してほしいと述べ、共有サービスブランチと高速なアップグレードを解説するにとどめている(関連記事：Windows 11 25H2まもなく登場、Insider向けに先行提供開始 | TECH+（テックプラス）)。

新機能を除く変更点としては、PowerShell 2.0およびWindows Management Instrumentation command-line(WMIC)の削除が発表された。また、法人の顧客向けとして、Enterprise／EDUデバイス上のグループ ポリシー／MDM CSPを介して、プリインストールされたMicrosoft Storeアプリを削除する機能が追加されたとのこと。

Windows Insiderプログラムのリリースプレビューチャネルユーザーは、Windows UpdateからWindows 11 25H2のダウンロードとインストールが可能だ。法人の顧客はWindows Update for Business(WUfB)およびWindows Server Update Service(WSUS)から入手することができる。また、Windows 11 25H2のISOイメージは、翌週以降にWindows Insider ISO download pageからダウンロードを提供する予定としている。
