3月21日(以下すべて現地時間)、MicrosoftはWMF(Windows Management Framework) 5.0 RTM(Release To Manufacturing)をMicrosoft Updateカタログで配信開始したことを公式ブログで明らかにした。

WMFはWindowsシステム管理フレームワークとしてPowerShellやPowerShell ISE(Integrated Scripting Environment)を実行するための基盤となる。2015年8月31日からWMF 5.0 Production Preview版をリリースし、2015年12年16日に完成を迎えたが、問題が発生したため、2015年12月23日にダウンロードセンターから削除。2016年2月24日に改めて公開した。

Microsoft UpdateカタログにアクセスするにはInternet Explorerが必要となる

WMF 5.0は、Windows PowerShellやJEA(Just Enough Administration)やDSC(Windows PowerShell Desired State Configuration)、ISE(Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment)、Management OData IIS Extension(Windows PowerShell Web Services)、WinRM(Windows Remote Management)、WMI(Windows Management Instrumentation)から構成され、Windows Server 2012 R2およびWin 8.1用、Windows Server 2012用、Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1およびWindows 7 SP1用のダウンロードが可能。

なお、MicrosoftはWMF 5.0 Production Preview版を使用中の場合、WMF 5.0 RTMインストール時に置き換えられるが、事前のアンインストールを推奨した。またIT管理者向けには、WMF 5.0 RTMをWSUS(Windows Server Update Services)やSCCM(System Center Configuration Manager)経由の導入も推奨している。
